At the Holiday Park Church of Christ, we strive to provide a variety of ministry opportunities designed to edify and strengthen the congregation as well as reach out to the community. The following is a list of current active ministries. Please click any ministry title for more information.
Worship "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs...Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and Praise His Name." - from Psalm 100. We take great joy in our congregational worship (Sunday 11:00 am and 6:30 pm) as times when we lift the name of the Lord in praise and thanksgiving through a cappella singing, prayer, fellowship, communion and the study of His Word. Join us to allow your spirit to rejoice in what the Lord is doing for you. Jim Ice serves as our deacon of Worship. For more information about our Worship Services, please email the church office.
Bible School As a central part of our mission to spread the good news of what God has done for us, we offer a active Bible School program. This program includes structured Bible classes for all ages offered on Sunday mornings (starting @10:00am) and Wednesday evenings (starting @ 7:30pm). The children's classes are designed to share God's love and message in a way best suited for each age group. Our adult classes are times of sharing and discussion about God's plan, His love and the practical applications of His message in our lives. Come join us as we seek to learn more about our Lord. Carroll Davis serves as our deacon of Education. For more information about our Worship Services, please email the church office.
This is the ministry to teens at the Holiday Park Church of Christ. Associate Minister Michael Casey leads this ministry, along with his wife, Shauna, and a team of Youth Worker Volunteers. The youth group is currently made up of about 15 active teenagers, who participate in LifeGroups Bible studies, youth rallies, Volleyball outreach nights, mission work, lock-ins, service projects and many more activities throughout the year. For more information, about the youth ministry, email Michael Casey.
This ministry is for children ages 6 through 6th grade, and is led by the Deacon of Junior Youth, Jim McCamy and his wife, Ann. Jim and Ann are assisted by parents of Junior Youth and by Michael Casey, Associate Minister. The children in the Junior Youth Ministry participate in monthly activities throughout the year, and weekly activities during the summer, including a Christmas-time field trip, service projects, a visit to a pumpkin patch, devotionals, junior youth rallies, Vacation Bible School, and kickball outreach events. Additionally, every Sunday during Worship, a Children's Worship program is held in the old auditorium to train children in worship. For more information about the Junior Youth Ministry, please email the church office.
The Holiday Park Church of Christ has an active ministry for the women of the congregation. Some of the programs offered for women include: a weekly daily Ladies' Bible Class, a monthly evening Ladies' Bible Study, prayer gatherings, the Secret Sisters Program, Ladies' Nights Out and Ladies Breakfast Saturdays (where the men of the congregation prepare and serve the meal). Probably the highlight of the Ladies' Ministry is the annual Ladies' Inspiration Day. This is held every other year on a Saturday in April, and is a half-day long event with keynote speakers, classes, singing and more. Another key component to the Ladies' Ministry is the Ladies' Prayer Group that meets occasionally for prayer and devotional. This group meets regularly for a period of time to pray for a specific ministry topic as well as various issues on the hearts of the women throughout the body. Most recently, the Ladies' Prayer Group met for four consecutive Tuesdays to pray for Vacation Bible School. For more information about the Ladies' Ministry, please email the church office.
The men of the congregation gather once-a-month on a Saturday morning for a Men's Fellowship Breakfast and Devotional. These special times of encouragement are usually held at the building or a nearby restaurant, but have also included other elements, like a recent trip to Bethany, West Virginia, where they visited some historic landmarks of the early Restoration Movement. For more information about the Men's Ministry, please email the church office.
Associate Minister Michael Casey leads this ministry. It is designed to strengthen our families by studying practical ways to improve our relationships with our spouses and children. Monthly events are held in which families gather at a home; the adults watch a teaching video and have a Bible study and discussion about a planned topic, while the children have supervised playtime in another room by teen volunteers. An annual picnic is also held.
In addition, a monthly event for mothers, called Cafe Mom, is held the third Thursday morning of every month. During Cafe Mom, mature women conduct a program for children while moms enjoy fellowship, food, and a devotional lesson from a mature mom.
For more information about Cafe Mom, please email the church office.
In addition to the Bible Studies held as parts of various ministries, other Bible Studies are held twice a month, and are open to anyone interested. Presently, our Senior Minister Earl Wilkerson conducts a study of the book of Acts every other Tuesday evening. A time of fellowship follows each study. For more information about these In-Home Bible Studies, please email the church office.
The Holiday Park Church of Christ is blessed to have a tremendous amount of talented singers. Some of those singers have organized to form a singing group, which performs for audiences.
Seraphim is a female a cappella vocal group. They perform well-known traditional and devotional-style songs at various functions throughout the tri-state area, including the annual A Cappella Singing Festival. For more information about Seraphim, please email the church office or Shauna Casey.
Each June, the members of the Holiday Park Church of Christ conduct a week-long evening Vacation Bible School for children and adults. Each night's session is two hours long. Activities include Bible dramas, key word presentations, Bible classes, crafts, refreshments, singing and more. VBS 2007 will be held June 11-15, and the theme is "Lemons to Lemonade." For details about VBS 2007, click here. For more information about Vacation Bible School, please email the church office.
Camp Concern is a Christian camp operated by Churches of Christ in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia. Many of the members of the Holiday Park Church of Christ work as counselors and staff members and many children and teens attend as campers. Mickey Casey, one of our elders, serves as Director of Secondary Week and Steve Bies, a deacon, serves as Director of Junior Week of Camp Concern. In addition to Mickey and Steve, two other members of the Holiday Park Church of Christ serve on the Board of Directors for Camp Concern. For more information, please visit the Camp Concern web site.
